Unlike many shared hosting providers we aim to provide a low client to server ratio i.e. we will not crowd too many client accounts onto each server.

We use Linux based servers to improve our flexibility. Installations always include Apache web server, CpPop mail server and mySQL database server.

The servers we use are hosted at the Global Switch facility in London's Docklands.

Global Switch facility information

The Global Switch facility provides unsurpassed levels of security along with physical measures to protect the safety and reliability of services. State of the art gas-based fire suppression systems, based upon Very Early Smoke Detection Alarms to sense heat and smoke before you can even smell it. Accessibility and reliability is key throughout, with raised flooring, scalable power expansion, and of course the facility is staffed 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year by experienced staff.

UPS Power Backup

All servers are plugged into a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). UPS's serve as an intermediate power supply in the event of a power failure to give us ample time to power up the backup generators.

System Backups

Each night the entire system is backed up which means in the event of a system failure, you should have not lost any files. However, we would always advise customers to take regular backups of their own website data to protect against accidental user deletion or the failure of any installed software.

Network Monitoring

The critical services on all of our services are monitored redundantly: once by the servers themselves, and once by an external monitoring system. If a service fails, the server is aware of it within 120 seconds and automatically informs technicians as well as attempting to restart the service itself. This double tiered system provides our customers with maximum service uptime and reliability.
